Embracing My Start Up

In April of 2020, I heard someone describe the pandemic as “The Great Pause.” Remember those days that we thought we might spend a whole week or two at home? A pause was definitely appropriate. Then everything changed. So much of what we just assumed would be here forever just disappeared. It gave us all pause and time to consider – what’s important in my life?

Today my life is unrecognizable. I found and dove head-first into what is important to me. I defined my core values as a person and started a business. I wanted to help others. I do this by helping small businesses who are looking to plan or expand their outreach.

I spent a year learning and putting the various pieces into place. I embraced a new community. I took everything I had learned in life, through both education and experience and started a business that combines the pieces I love the most. Gear Up Consulting was founded in March 2021. 

Today I get to work with businesses to define and execute social responsibility plans. Do most small businesses know what corporate social responsibility means? A little research on the topic yields volumes of information. The whole well-intended endeavor can take an unexpected, overwhelming turn. The term “social responsibility” covers so much territory.

Each business is unique and their specific needs are as well. Gear Up starts with what you care about most and we build a plan from there. It doesn’t need to be complicated, it just needs to be strategic.
